Banana Almond Maca Shake

RAW . VEGAN . GLUTEN-FREE


This is a luxurious shake for breakfast or a snack for those moments of decadence, that will fill your tank and give you lots of energy to burn!


I love adding Maca to smoothies where I can. Maca is a Peruvian root vegetable, a known superfood that’s dried, ground and usually sold in powder form.  It is rich in nutrients, great for balancing hormones and boosting endorphins. An absolute must for me during my peri-menopause stage!


My favourite way to use maca is blended into smoothies as it gives them a lovely nutty taste.


I usually make my own Almond milk using this simple recipe, but any unsweetened nut, seed or oat milk from a carton will work just a well for this shake.



INGREDIENTS


1.5 cup chilled Almond Milk

1 frozen Banana (peel & slice before freezing)

1-2 pitted Dates

1 tsp Chia Seeds

2 tbsp Almond Butter

1 tsp Maca Powder

1 tsp Vanilla Extract

1/2 tsp Cinnamon powder

1/4 tsp ground Nutmeg

Suggested Toppings:

Raw or Toasted Hazelnuts

Raw or Toasted Coconut shavings

Raw Cacao Nibs

Ground Cinnamon


METHOD


1. Blend all the ingredients together in a high speed blender until smooth and creamy.

2. Pour into a tall glass.

3. Top with any of the suggested toppings.

4. Enjoy straight away.


NOTES


Freeze bananas that are going over ripe so you always have them on hand for smoothies and mylk-shakes.
